Forever, Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid

The book started with the ending of the beautiful love story and the journey goes backwards. Can you imagine beginning a book with tears and sob? Can you handle that? Because that's what you will get when you commit to reading this good book. A real good crying book. I love the way Reid wrote the sorrow and sadness of Elsie mourning on Ben's passing after he got hit by a truck. The hospital incidents and the drama with Ben's mother - Susan. Get ready because you are about to dive with my feelings - all about the book. Watch out! This post might reveal some spoilers. I admit that at first, I found it a bit ridiculous that Elsie and Ben fell in love too quick, get engaged, freaked out with the commitment and finally get eloped. But as the story goes along, I found that Ben has every reason for girls to fall for. Even I fell in love with Ben immediately when reading it.   The major heartbreak was when Elsie learned about the accident and her situation in the hospit...

The Seven Husband of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I get hooked up with this book for 2 reasons. It has a very beautiful book cover and an intriguing book title. When I select the book to be in my reading list, I keep on thinking about what could be possible behind every husband she had. One thing I thought about was that this book might be about Evelyn's seven times of marriages in her life. The farther I read, the more the story came out of my surprise and even more than what I imagined. Before anything, I would like to remind that my review might contain spoiler. Might, but just a little bit should be okay, right? The novel tells the story of the fictional Old Hollywood star Evelyn Hugo, who at the age of 79 decides to give a final interview to an unknown journalist, Monique Grant. Although Evelyn Hugo was loosely based in part on actresses Elizabeth Taylor, Reid created Evelyn Hugo to be the glorious star in her storytelling. While reading this book, I googled more about Elizabeth Taylor and learned about her 8 marr...

After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This is a second chance romance where you will go through a hurtful journey of two love birds. A very engaging narrative and super emotional characters. Too many lessons to learn and I salute Taylor Jenkins Reid for doing her research thoroughly in relationship happiness, problems and solutions. She carried her unique writing personality that made me know that this is her masterpiece without checking who the author is. I am addicted to Taylor Jenkins Reid's novels.  I love the way she describes the early stage of the relationship, and how it bloomed up and abruptly fades. She elaborates the reasons and even gave some space for the character to mend their broken heart. I deeply felt both characters' grief and realized that those are the common problems married couple faced. Only true lovers succeed.  The story brought me to the song sang by Chicago - Hard to Say I'm Sorry. Say no more, this is an awesome book for those who want to learn about the relationship and...

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

The novel brought me to the sadness and the loneliness surroundings of a creature being abandoned by his creator. The narrative and the characters' growth in the book was amazingly strong which it still lingers in my mind and it still kept me in awe of the way the story was written. The name Frankenstein will automatically bring our imagination to a huge green monster, tall, with a rusty old nail stuck in its neck with creepy stitches on the skin or similar to the Herman in The Monster TV show. Well, this month, I had learned that Frankenstein was the name of the obsessed intelligent creator who recreates human with the selected body parts and eventually resulted to become a gothic hideous creature. The story leads me to a huge pool of question of how Mary Shelley arrived at the idea of creating the monstrous world of Victor Frankenstein. She adapted some of her life events, griefs, lost, guilty, romanticism and obsessions. From some of the sources I have read, she seems to...

Dracul by Dacre Stoker & JD Barker

After reading Dracul, I keep on wondering whether those vampires existences are real or not. Dacre Stoker and JD Barker noted this at the beginning, "For all those who know monsters are real." I read it all including the author's notes and still keeps me wondering. Those names are from the real person. Bram had his illness when he was small and get back his life as a healthy person after the treatment which was neither mentioned in the notes nor Wikipedia. I could sum up that, the book is about 2 journeys. One, Bram was investigating for the mysterious life of Ellen Crone and two, the journey of Ellen Crone finding her true love Deaglan O'Cuiv and protecting him from the Dracul. The peak point is all about Dracul. Dracul was an actual product of Scholomance known as a school in the mountains where Devil teaches the mysteries of nature. Only 10 pupils at a time and retains one as payment. The one retained as payment was Dracul.  The storyline is very clear and ...
