Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert

In the beginning, I felt uncomfortable with the subtle criticism of women in the book. Surprisingly, along the way, I can get along with the story and I love it. Charles Bovary has a dull personality, insensitive, lack of confidence and no excitement. He was the opposite character of Emma. He assumed that Emma is happy. Knowing not that Emma was unsatisfied with her life being married to him. Based on what I have read, Emma's predicament came from her own self-inflicted and also caused by her natural desire for love. She was influenced so much into fictionalizing romance in novels which sounded very promising towards love, relationship and more about happily ever after stories. She let her fictionalized world controlled her mind. She was not exposed to the real definition of marriage. She thought Charles could be her perfect true love character as in the book. Those factors have inflicted her to rush for love and wanting to know more about love and be loved. She didn't marr...

Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid. We all know that our path has been written before we were even born. Our task is to walk according to the right way with guidance from The All-Mighty. As a human, of course, we will be given choices on where our path is heading to. Whether we are taking it the long way or short way, only time will tell. That's the gist of the book.  I found that the book was very engaging from the beginning to the end. I feel that the book was close to my heart when I read it. The narrative and characters were all well played. I love that the book was written in two separate paths where it made me think deeper about most consequences in life from every action taken. Although the author let us fly with our imagination with choices of living, she ended the story by guiding us to a happy ending. It's profoundly written and win my heart.  I love this book so much.

Our Stop by Laura Jane Williams

Our Stop by Laura Jane Williams is a light and easy read; entertaining and brilliant book. It was a quick read for me. The storyline was simple and straightforward. This can consider as one of my best read for this year. The plot arrangement was brilliant. It was easy to guess for the ending but the surprise arrangement was creative and engaging. The book brought me back to my memories of watching my favourite movie - You've Got Mail. I felt so much happier and enjoying the moment reading the story. There were so many characters played in this story and all were active. I like the way Laura Jane Williams makes every character played and connected their role. The process to reach the peak of the story is very detail and as a reader, I experience the excitement and fun in every movement of the storyline. Laura described her characters precisely.  For example; Train Guy, Coffee Stain Girl, train schedule and even the imaginary crowds were enlivened as if it was so real in ...

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Suskind

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer is a literary historical fantasy novel written by the German writer Patrick Süskind. It is a genius and compelling book to be read by all. The novel is written figuratively and the story development is very engaging. The novel is full of sensory language. The synonym words like perfume, odour, scent, stench, stink are frequently used in this book. Even though reading required the eyes and the brain to comprehend the story, my nose would sniff in every part of the story told by Patrick Suskind in this book. The elements used by Suskind attracted me to read and study more about this story. The story is about Jean-Bapstiste Grenouille who was left by his mother at birth and being rejected from society because he has no scent and was seen as an abnormal person. He often being magically survived in many difficult situations. After committing his first murder, he finally found the meaning of his life. He wanted to have a higher destiny and nothing less t...
